    History

    The particularity of Domaine Maurice Ecard is that it is the only estate that possesses four Premier Cru AOPs from different climats. Some of them are among the most renowned. This diversity within the estate provides a perfect illustration of the richness of the terroirs of Bourgogne. It enables us to offer a selection of styles to satisfy the palates of all Bourgogne wine lovers.

    Pinot Noir

    Origin

    North from Côte de Beaune, this vineyard spreads around the village of Savigny-Lès-Beaune. Climat "Les Narbantons", facing East, is located between "Les Jarrons" and "Les Peuillets".

    Soil

    The soil is composed mainly of marl.

    Vinification

    Manual harvest. Traditional winemaking in temperature controlled tanks. Cold maceration before fermentation. Long vating with some pushing downs and pumping over. Long ageing in oak barrel: 40% new and 60% old.

    Colour

    Red garnet in color.

    Nose

    An elegant bouquet of red berries mixed with floral notes.

    Palate

    The mouth offers a nice balance between roundness and volume supported by notes of cherries.

    Recommendations

    Perfect match with roasted beef, poultry, or soft cheeses like Brie de Meaux.

    EXCEPTIONAL YEAR. GOOD CONCENTRATION, GREAT AGEING POTENTIAL

    The winter was somewhat mild, with temperatures above average in December and February.
    The clement temperatures in March allowed the vine to develop well, but the spring frosts put the brakes on.
    Therefore, the most advanced plots reached the stage of mid bud-break in the first days of April. It took at least two weeks for the tardiest plots to catch up.
    The vegetative cycle then resumed thanks to a very warm spring. These temperatures rose to heatwave level in July, giving way to quite a cool start to August.
    The end of August and the beginning of September were fair and the grapes ripened at a steady rate.

    Start of the grape harvest at the end of August until mid-October in certain regions. Settled, fair weather throughout the entire period.


    White wines: clean, great aromatic purity and remarkable balance. Very rich in the mouth.
    Red wines: ruby coloured, elegant with supple tannins and pleasant freshness. Wonderfully more-ish
